A2VT, a local hip-hop trio with roots in Africa, will be at Sterling College for an evening of singing, dancing, and discussion.

A2VT, meaning “Africa to Vermont,” is composed of three African refugees who now live in Vermont: Said Jilib, MG Man, and Beny Gola. Said Jilib is a refugee from Somalia, MG Man from Tanzania, and Beny Gola from Congo. When war broke out in their home countries, they were forced to leave. Eventually, they arrived in Vermont. “Now that we are here,” they proclaim on their website, “we want to show people what we can do. We write songs about our journey. We sing. We rap. We dance.”

They will perform on Saturday, November 5, at 7:30 p.m. in the Dunbar Dining Hall on the Sterling College campus. This event is free and open to the public, but no alcohol is allowed on the premises.

Their first album, “Africa, Vermont” and their new single “Let’s Get Together” are available on their website, a2vt.com. Seven Days called “Let’s Get Together” “intensely danceable” with “shimmering, syncopated beats.”
