Walk Strong Fall Prevention

Past event
Jan 3, 2017, 4 to 5:30 PM

Because balance starts with the feet, your movement pattern and how you walk is the basis for building a training program directed to realignment the body, improved posture, and stability to prevent falling.

Every step we take has two phases: a stance phase and a swing phase. During the stance phase which begins with the heel strike, there is a brief moment when the full weight of the body is entirely supported on one foot while the other foot is moving through the air. It is control and stability during this moment that is at the heart of fall prevention when the body is in motion. Identifying individual habits of walking and making corrections where needed is at the core of this instruction and training. Walk Strong will help you walk yourself well. This class meets January 3, 5, 10, 12, 17, & 19, 2017, 4-5:30pm.

This is a second-part fall prevention class. Participants will be asked to complete the preliminary Stand Strong class before registering for this one. For more information or to register visit www.RRMC.org or call 802.772.2400.
