You are invited to Pacem School’s 10th Anniversary Celebration!
It will be an afternoon of great events. Fun free activities for the young and young at heart will be at from 2:30 – 4:30 at Pacem School (obstacle course, face painting, treasure hunts and more!). Pizza will be for sale from Woodbelly Pizza on the College Green from 4 – 6 and free cake and ice cream will be in the College Hall Chapel from 6 – 6:30.
As our featured event, we are hosting a talk by noted educational psychologist Peter Gray entitled “Play and Learning: What Exactly is Play and Why is It Such a Powerful Vehicle for Learning?” Dr. Gray will discuss the educational and developmental value of play. He will explain why play came about, in natural selection, to promote children’s healthy physical, intellectual, social, moral, and emotional growth and will describe the psychological detriments that have accompanied the decline of play in recent decades. His talk will address play in children of all ages including teens. Suggested donation for the talk is $10.
