Skinny Pancake Haiti Benefit with Live Music

Hello Neighbors,

We are all aware of the devastation that Hurricane Matthew caused to Haiti, a nation that was already struggling. If you've seen any of the photos, you know that entire villages have been completely decimated and the counts of death, injuries, and people left without a home are still rising.

I have decided to get involved in the relief effort and I'm planning to travel to Haiti to help a medical clinic in a remote village that was damaged by the hurricane. I have worked with, and been good friends with, Fenel, the leader of this village, for the past ten years.

This Saturday at the Skinny Pancake in Burlington, there is a fundraising event to raise money for this project. The Skinny Pancake generously offered to donate 10% of their proceeds made between the hours of 8:00-10:00.

This one Medical clinic serves 10,000 plus people in a large area where people often walk up to seven miles with their family to get treatment. Right now, the clinic only has the resources to be open for one day per week and there is a long line out the door. Your donations will provide the clinic with the electricity it desperately needs. The project will be able to install a solar energy system, repair the damage from the hurricane, open the clinic for three days a week, purchase a refrigerator to store life saving vaccines and medication, purchase a computer, install outlets in each room, and lights so they can properly diagnose and treat patients. We will also restock critical medical supplies. I will be working closely with the elementary school next-door to the clinic. They are desperately asking for help on our next trip down.

The fundraiser will have live music from The Fog, a great folk/rock band from Richmond, an informative slideshow about the clinic. Several items will be auctioned off to help raise money. A giant 5-gallon jug will be there to fill up with change, so bring your change can from home! There is no cost to attend but donations are encouraged.

If you can't make it, please consider learning more about the project and making an online donation. You can donate right now, by way of GoFundMe, PayPal, Visa, MasterCard and American Express. Donations will go directly to this project and are tax deductible. The links below have all the information.
