This fall Rustic Roots is proud to host the whimsical architectural clay art of Essex Junction artist John Brickels. Two dozen brand new works spill across the dining room in vignettes reflecting a range of architectural aesthetics.

Each wall invokes a unique time and place inspired by the artist’s personal experiences, from a post-industrial Ohio cityscape—featuring splintered row houses, factories and scrap metal garages in Brickels’ signature mocha clay—to the wind-swept barns of Vermont and idyllic midcentury living rooms. An intricate rendition of hill-towns, inspired by an anniversary trip to Europe, unfold in terra cotta stoneware complete with tiled-roof villas with winding stairs and narrow passageways.
