On Monday the 24th the Craftsbury Conservation Commission will host a presentation by Jim Ryan of the Vermont Department of Environmental Conservation. Jim will be presenting on Act 64, the new Vermont Clean Water Act. One of the new Act 64 requirements is that the DEC develop a new Municipal Roads General Permit (MRGP). The goal of the MRGP is to address municipal road-related stormwater runoff, such as excess sediment and nutrients, that can adversely impact Vermont’s waterways. Jim will discuss the MRGP likely requirements and road practices and standards, road erosion inventories, MRGP timelines, and resources available to municipalities. Gina Campoli of Vermont Agency of Transportation will also be there to discuss how VTrans will be providing resources to towns.
