Everyone is invited to a showing of "Salam Neighbor," an award-winning documentary film and campaign to connect the world to refugees, on Saturday, October 22 at 7:00 at Castleton University's Casella Theater. The event is free. A panel discussion will follow, including director, Zach Ingrasci, and former Ambassador to Syria, Robert Ford, and will be moderated by CU President, David Wolk.
Directors, Chris and Zach Ingrasci, were the first filmmakers allowed to register and be given a tent inside a refugee camp in order to immerse themselves and the viewers into the life of Syrian refugees. From meeting Um Ali, a woman struggling to overcome personal loss and cultural barriers, to the street smart, 10-year-old Raouf, whose trauma hides just beneath his ever present smile, witness inspiring stories of individuals rallying, against all odds, to rebuild their lives and those of their neighbors.
What a great opportunity to find out more about ordinary Syrian folk who have had to flee their country to escape the horrors of war!
