Silent Film with Original Music by Dan Dewalt

Past event

Next Saturday, September 18, at Epsilon Spires, Main Street Brattleboro (the old Baptist church next to Brown and Roberts Hardware) I will premiere a new musical score for the silent movie, Sidewalk stories by Charles Lane.

I have composed and will be performing the music to accompany the film. This film was shot in 1989 in New York city as an homage to Charley Chaplin's The Kid. Besides being highly entertaining, the film touches on some serious issues surrounding homelessness and class in America. My music tries to reflect these tensions and contradictions and has been a joy to compose. The doors open at 7 and the film will start at 7:30. I will be playing both piano and the Epsilon Spires pipe organ with its magnificent sound.

Epsilon Spires is a vast room with two balconies, so it should be easy to give yourself plenty of room to keep a comfortable distance from other folks who attend. The admission is $15. If the cost is an obstacle, please contact me and I will arrange a discount or free passage.
