"Murder by the Book" Staged Play Reading

Past event
Apr 12, 2024, 7 PM

The MRV Libraries invite everyone to a staged reading of the play Murder by the Book, written by Canadian playwright Laura Teasdale and sponsored by Louise Penny. This comedic whodunnit takes place in the library and you might recognize some of the characters. Admission and refreshments by donation. All donations collected will fund future library programs in the Mad River Valley.

In Murder by the Book, the town of Two Spruce is about to lose their beloved library! A team of volunteer actors come to its rescue by staging a murder mystery. But on opening night a real murder most foul threatens to thwart their fundraiser. Lucy the Librarian (played by our own librarian Marie) and a team of quirky volunteer actors scramble to solve the crime before the curtain rises and the library is lost forever!

The script comes compliments of mystery writer Louise Penny & playwright Laura Teasdale who created the play to help raise money for libraries everywhere.

Doors open at 6:30; show starts at 7:00.

Many thanks to our volunteer actors: Aric Brown, Jay Carpenter, Alex Maclay, Sarah McDougal, RuthAnn Pattee, Joe Robinson, and Marci Robinson.
