There are TWO great concerts at the Vergennes Opera House this weekend!

First, on Friday, April 5th at 7:00pm the Vermont Youth Orchestra Ensembles will grace our stage and take full advantage of the astounding acoustics of the Vergennes Opera House. The VYO features the most advanced young musicians from Vermont, New Hampshire, and northern New York. Touring internationally, they have performed in Spain, Portugal, Iceland, Germany, the Czech Republic, France, and China. We are thrilled to have them here in Vergennes! Chamber ensembles for this event will include local Vergennes students: Jing Williams on Trumpet; Grey Fearon on Trombone; and Megan Mentzer on Percussion; with an opening piano solo by 12 year-old Owen Clevenstine performing Gershwin's "Rhapsody in Blue" center stage on the VOH grand piano. Doors open at 6:30. The concert begins at 7:00.

Then, on Sunday, April 7th at 2:00pm we welcome the U.S. Army Band Ensemble, "Summit Winds." This is a chamber woodwind ensemble from the U.S. Army 10th Mountain Division (Light Infantry) Band located at Fort Drum, New York. Through their impeccable military bearing, professionalism, and excellent musicianship, their aim is to build community, steward tradition, honor the fallen, and bolster morale by engaging local, regional, national, and international audiences through world-class musical performances. This concert is free and open to the public, but reservations are encouraged. Doors open at 1:30. The concert begins at 2:00.
