I'll be having a book conversation this Thursday with Vermont author Gail Schwartz about her new novel, "Falling Through the Night." We'll be at the Vermont Book Shop on March 21, at 5:30 p.m. Please join us if you can. It's an engagingly good book with a lot to say.

The novel tells the story of Audrey Meyerwitz. She wants to fall in love and have a family. But as a queer, 30-something insomniac, she's finding that to be an elusive goal. Drawing on some of Gail's own experiences in Vermont and Quebec with motherhood, anxiety and healing intergenerational trauma, the book relates Audrey's journey through online dating and immigration — and how a secret about her mother ruptures everything.
