Here at the Waterbury Area Food Shelf we're gearing up for spring! Last year we did our first garden and this year we're doubling it. That means more opportunities for garden volunteers! Stay tuned for a future post once the new garden beds are set up - we'll need help getting them ready for planting, and then help actually planting everything. There have been a few large food drives in the past few weeks so our shelves are well stocked. Thank you to everyone who may have participated in these food drives! Also a big thank you to everyone who has donated directly to us, or who continues to drop off items at the donation boxes at Shaws and the Village Market. If you are looking for ways to help, there are still a few things that we could use - see the list below. As always, we are also happy to have food or gift cards donated. FOOD NEEDS:
Cereal
Baking mixes - brownies, muffins, etc
Toilet paper
Baking ingredients such as sugar, flour, baking soda, baking powder, and spices
Condiments - grilling season is around the corner! Mustard, mayonnaise, ketchup, and relish.

Also if you have any extra re-usable shopping bags to donate that would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for remembering that everyone deserves to eat healthy and nourish themselves regardless of circumstance. We're so proud to be a part of the Waterbury community!

I know spring seems like a long way away, but it'll be here before we know it. The Waterbury Area Food Shelf 's garden will be going into its second season. Last year was a great first year and produced a lot of veggies that we were able to share with our neighbors. As you're thinking about your garden and starting seeds, please keep us in mind! We are happy to take any extra starts you may have to fill the garden here, as well as share with our shoppers. We'll also be looking for volunteers to get us going again so keep an eye out for that in April. Other needs: HAVE ANIMALS TO FEED? We sometimes have expired milk that can't be distributed. Is that something that you could feed to your animals? Please let me know and I can set that aside for you. SHOPPING? While our shelves continue to be well-stocked thanks to our community members' generosity, we are running low on a few things. SHOPPING? While our shelves continue to be well-stocked thanks to our community members' generosity, we are running low on a few things. We could use the following: toilet paper, jars of pasta sauce, snacks, and canned meals - things like canned ravioli, spaghetti and meatballs, chilis and stews.

As always - keep up with us on Instagram and like, comment, or share our posts to help us reach more folks in the community. Warm wishes!
