I will be presenting my handmade (and print version) books-as-art on Saturday at Kellogg Hubbard Library at 1pm, as part PoemCity festivities. "Removing My Seed Coat" (c 2009) and "GPS---germination power surge" (c 2013) are the first two completed, in a series of eight. Each is created in a different sculptural shape and all eight illuminate our human existence via wisdom harvested from the life cycle of plants. Currently I am working on the book on "rooting"; The series will complete with works on: leafing, branching, flowering, fruiting and seeding. Print version copies of the first two books will be available for purchase.
In the second floor fiction room, you will find a display of the original handmade books-as-art, as well as the scenario of transposing these works to print. The display will continue throughout April.
At 2pm a handmade book activity will take place (until 3:30.) This is FREE and all materials will be supplied. Please register at the Library for this event, so that there will be enough material and supplies on hand. This is a multi-generational activity where participants will create their own "one page" book. Children as young as 8 (with parent or grandparent to help) will find this activity doable.
I look forward to sharing my art and poetry project with you.
