Community Dance!

Please join me, Robin Russell (accordion, calling) with David Kaynor (fiddle, calling) and Friends on April 24th for another Community Dance to be held at Chandler Center for the Arts.

I am delighted to have this opportunity to bring David to this community where there is a long history of tradtional dance and music. Currently the Director of the Vermont Fiddle Orchestra, David brings a 40 year history as a nationally known fiddler, caller, composer, mentor and dance instructor. An entertaining story-teller and talented musician, he has made a tremendous impact on the revival and evolution of both the music and community - building spirit of New England social dance culture.

With thanks to the Arts Bus, students at the Braintree and Brookfield Elementary schools will be engaging in a traditional dance program with us this week. We are hopeful that families from these communities will bring the children to the "in town" dance to mingle and have fun with their both local and regional neighbors. Don't miss it!

The Dance program includes dances for all ages, abilities and interests - including waltzes, polkas, squares, contras and long-ways set dances. A Dance Basics introductory workshop will begin at 6:30pm followed by the Community Dance from 7-9pm. Admission is $7.00 pp and children under age 10 are free! Families with teens are $20.

The event is being held in the Esther Mesh Room, and is co-sponsored by Chander Center for the Arts and the Arts Bus. Refreshments will be available for sale with the proceeds going to benefit Arts Bus, Inc.
Please bring a pair of clean soft-soled shoes for dancing. Information: (802) 889-3246
