Why? The wealth inequality in our country has widened significantly in the last 50 years. Middle class wages have not kept pace with the cost of living. Wealth is concentrated and benefits a very few. We are seeing policies that are being executed in a rapid fire fashion that will further the divide. So let's send a message with our wallets, something many Vermonters already do.
This Friday DON'T use credit cards including debit cards, shop at chains, shop online retailers.
DO pay in cash at the many local businesses in our community and maybe even open a bank account at National Bank of Middlebury or ONE Credit Union.
It's time we stop letting out of touch politicians distract and divide us on social issues (immigration, DEI, abortion, etc) and start demanding economic change that actually helps the middle class.
