The Experience of Drone Pilots Presentation at the PJC

Past event
Dec 10, 2014, 6:30 to 7:30 PM

Hello Neighbors!

The Peace & Justice Center is please to launch a new presentation about the people who operate unmanned aerial vehicles. This 45 minute presentation explores the experience of these men and women in a way that is not commonly discussed in the dialogue about drone warfare. This may come as a surprise to folks but Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) is higher among drone operators than onboard pilots in war zones. You may wonder why that is. This event is an excellent ways to become more knowledgeable about drones and the impact they have on individuals and communities in the United States and beyond. Michaela Herrmann is a student at Champlain College who worked to develop this program as part of her internship with the Peace & Justice Center. She will lead the presentation and discussion that follows. If you are not able to attend this event but you would like to read a bit more about it check out this article that Michaela wrote for the last PJC Newsletter: http://www.pjcvt.org/2014/12/warm-to-cold-mental-stresses-of-drone-pilots/

For more information or if you have ideas about communities or community members throughout Vermont who may be interested in helping us share this presentation with more people please contact me.
