Please join me next Monday, October 27th at 3pm in Montpelier for #TimesUpRiseUp, a public appeal to stop the fracked gas pipeline.

I know there are many opinions on this particular pipeline, but given the emergency status of the climate, it's time to stop all fossil fuel projects and quickly switch to renewables and greater efficiency. Vermont banned fracking, so we shouldn't be importing fracked fuel from elsewhere.

One thing I've learned in following this project is who really benefits. Vermonters in Addison County would do much better in reducing their energy costs by weatherizing and installing new technologies like heat pumps, solar water heaters, wood pellet stoves, etc. - at prices comparable to gas heat. Who wins? Cabot Cheese, Middlebury College, and International Paper. So current VT Gas customers pay for a project that primarily benefits corporations and large institutions - no thanks!
