In this two-hour demo at Two Sisters, presented by Laura Sullivan, UVM, we will discuss the anatomy of fiber hemp and how growing practices for all kinds of cannabis differ depending on the end use, whether it is food, fiber, or flower. We will discuss the anatomy of fiber hemp, touch on the retting process, and then follow up with demonstration of fiber extraction using a break, scutching sword, hackles, and a spinning wheel. With these antique pieces of equipment, fibers will be transformed from dried stalks into workable yarn. This has been shortened from 4 hours to 2 hours - 10:00 - NOON. Preregistration required. $15 for first household member, $10 for second household member, $5 for third (more than 3 is free but registration still required to hold a spot).
