The Birchwood--Vermont's newest public garden--opens for the first time June 9-11, when almost 700 of its more than 1,200 rhododendrons will be in bloom.
Named for its hundreds of white birches, the naturalistic 7-acre garden also offers stunning close views of the northernmost Green Mountains.
Owned and maintained by the non-profit Evergreen Foundation, the woodland garden is described in detail--and illustrated with beautiful color photos--on the Foundation's extensive website, evergreenfoundationnh.org.
Open from 10 am to 5 pm each day, the Birchwood will be described by interpretive signs along a half-mile of paths.
The opening benefits the non-profit Friends of the Montgomery Town Library. Admission is $7 per person; children 12 and under will be admitted without charge.
