On Saturday, from 5-6 PM, the Capital City Grange will host a Zoom presentation and discussion about what the Coronavirus crisis has shown us about how the food system works--and doesn't. We've all learned about how much we depend on food coming from far away, as well as from close by. We've learned that farmers, farm workers, and grocery store workers are all "Essential Workers"!

U.S. farms are having difficulties getting the immigrant workers they depend on. Large food facilities like meat-packing plants are shutting down amidst spikes of COVID-19 cases. Long-distance supply chains seem more fragile than ever. What are sensible policy responses to building a more resilient, self-sufficient food system? As individuals, what are some of the best things for us to be planting to help feed ourselves and our neighbors?

David Zuckerman, an organic farmer and Vermont's Lt. Governor, has thought about food resilience for decades. He'll share his thoughts on these issues, and other questions people bring up, in this hour-long presentation and discussion.
