Honoring Ash Event Sept. 21 in Greensboro

Past event
Sep 21, 2019, 12:30 to 4 PM

Mark your calendars September 21st from 12:30 to 4PM. Join WonderArts VT, Sterling College, the Vermont Land Trust, and the Orleans County Forester to learn about the cultural importance and ecology of ash trees in light of the anticipated impact of the Emerald Ash Borer (EAB). Ash trees grace forests and wetlands throughout Vermont. Because of Emerald Ash Borer (EAB), an invasive beetle that kills ash trees, the future of white ash, green ash, and black ash (also called brown ash) is uncertain. Now is the time to soak in the beauty of ash trees everywhere. Be a part of the documentation project by painting, drawing or photographing ash trees, learn more about the EAB and methods for minimizing their damage, hear local artists and community members share the cultural history of the ash and see the myriad crafts utilizing this amazing tree. Kids can complete a scavenger hunt and collect stamps for their Ash Passport.

This special event is dedicated to recognizing, appreciating and documenting ash trees through art, stories, and science. Rain or shine! Please dress for the weather. For More Info and to RSVP, go to https://www.wonderartsvt.org/calender/honoring-ash-trees
