This week, film historian Rick Winston will present the first of three films by the Belgian Dardenne brothers, who have created naturalistic films about working class life in their hometown. This film will be "La Promesse", 1996. A father who traffics and exploits illegal immigrants comes into conflict with his teenage son. The film will be shown at the Savoy Theatre in Montpelier at 12:30 on Wednesday, Dec. 5. (Note different time and venue.) Rick will lead a discussion of the film.
