Vermont Humanities Book Discussion

Past event
Sep 7, 2021, 7 PM

This fall Peacham Library will host the book discussion series, "African American Experience: South to North". Throughout the 20th century, African-Americans fled southern states to escape persecution and seek opportunities further north. This series pairs Isabel Wilkerson's masterful history of this Great Migration with fiction and memoir that illuminate the north/south divide.

Discussions will be facilitated by Vermont Humanities Scholar, Suzanne Brown. Sessions will start at 7 PM and take place on September 7, October 5 & 26, November 16. These sessions are free, open to the public, and accessible to those with disabilities.

The first book in the series "Black Boy" by Richard Wright is available to borrow now. Other books will be available on loan in advance. For more information, contact Peacham Library at 592-3216 or circ@peachamlibrary.org.

"African American Experience: South to North" is a Vermont Humanities Council series hosted by Peacham Library. (Supported in part by the National Endowment for the Humanities.
