On Saturday September 15th, the ACLU of Vermont and The Big Picture Theater in Waitsfield will be hosting a screening of the Emmy Award-winning & Oscar-nominated documentary "13th," a devastating and informative look at mass incarceration in the United States. Event information at www.facebook.com/events/1599813243463720/

Following the film, a panel of organizers and advocates working on issues of racial justice and criminal justice reform will tie together themes discussed in "13th" with Vermont-specific issues and the work being done to achieve justice in our state. Guest speakers include Madeline Sharrow (Migrant Justice), Jay Diaz (ACLU Staff Attorney), Jessica Brown (Chittenden Public Defender's Office) & Ashley Sawyer (ACLU's Smart Justice Campaign). This event is being organized by a local high school student with support from the ACLU to bring this important discussion to her community.
