Event: Thursday, Feb 22, 6:30 "Wind: A Struggle for the Character of Vermont” will screen at Bristol Cliffs Cafe, 16 Main Street. The film explores the polarization that has happened all across the state in response to large-scale wind energy projects. Viewers are offered a fast-paced education on the complexity of challenges Vermont is having on its path toward a clean energy future and raises questions on how we can move forward in a way that fosters community rather than divides us. Filmmaker, Mark Cline Lacey, from Vermont Commons School will join us for a discussion afterward.

This screening is timely for: 1. Getting out the vote for the Town Meeting Day Resolution, and 2. Embracing the challenge Bristol has to consider the construction of a natural gas pipeline in the village. It was emphasized at the Gas Forum/Select Board Public Hearing Feb 12th that the gas project is “not a done deal." It has to go through the Act 250 process before the Agreement with VT Gas Systems is signed and confusion over the status of the project has interfered with sufficient public participation. It will take time to engage all voices, educate ourselves and work together respectfully to create solutions for our energy future and to weigh in on deciding whether to bring gas infrastructure to all streets of the Bristol village, as proposed.
