DIY Elderberry Syrup

Past event
Oct 11, 2020, 1 to 2:30 PM

The Elder tree (Sambucus canadensis) grows across Vermont in wet gulches and marking old farmsteads at the edges of forests, yards and roads. Humans and other animals have been harvesting their flowers and berries for thousands of years of medicine making. Elderberry syrup is useful at the onset of the flu or common cold and can decrease both the duration and symptoms. Join the library and clinical herbalist Allison Dellner in learning how to identify the tree, make Elderberry syrup, enjoy the open air, and give appreciation for the harvest.
